Directed by Cate Shortland, “Black Widow” finally gives Natasha Romanoff her own standalone adventure, and it’s a welcome addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In the suspenseful spy thriller “Black Widow,” Natasha Romanoff must face a dangerous plot connected to her history. She struggles with the darker aspects of her past—secrets kept hidden long before she was an Avenger—as the movie progresses. During her travels, Natasha is forced to confront her ghosts and deal with relationships that have been ruined during her time as a spy. In between thrilling action sequences and high-stakes espionage, “Black Widow” unveils the previously unknown facets of this legendary Marvel character’s past.

“Black Widow” channels the spirit of ’70s spy movies, blending elements from classics like “The Bourne Identity” and James Bond. The film revolves around family—both the makeshift one Natasha leaves behind and the one she’s thrust back into.

Florence Pugh steals the show as Yelena Belova, Natasha’s “sister.” Her chemistry with Johansson is electric. David Harbour and Rachel Weisz add depth as the parental figures with their own secrets.

The film balances intense action sequences with emotional beats. The fight choreography is tight, and the stakes feel real. Natasha’s journey isn’t just about avenging; it’s about redemption and confronting her past.
